Ways You Can Get Involved

Become a Pen Pal to a Friend Inside

Our abolition work at Black + Pink is intentionally centered around our inside friends, so our connection with our inside friends is vital. Please think about becoming a pen pal to a friend inside if you have not already.

To do so you can check out our local list of inside friends looking for a pen pal by clicking the 'penpals' link up above.

Or you can check out the full national list of inside friends looking for a pen pal.

Letter Writing Support

We get together regularly as a group and partner with other community orgs to host events where we help outside friends get matched with inside friends for pen paling; offer support for those already writing to friends inside; write birthday cards (and holidays cards around the holidays) to our inside friends; and process mail we get from inside friends.

We are currenlty working on planning our next set of events but if you have any ideas or want to get involved in letter writing support, please feel free to email us. Letter writing can be done at home, with friends, or basically wherever. If you (and a some friends) would like to start a letter writing or pen pal group, please let us know and we’re happy to help you get started

Abolition Reading Group

We host an outside member bookclub that meets to discuss abolition topics in different works by abolitionist authors. This also serves as a way to educate ourselves on different abolitionist views, tactics, and methods throughout history.

We are currenlty working on choosing our next book and planning our next book club so please let us know if you have any suggestions!
